Gorgeous Antique Bed and a fun antique dresser for sale!

This past month has been so incredibly busy. So happy to share some new “for sale” furniture with you! I have been busy working on many pieces for a non-profit store/boutique my aunt is opening up in Brentwood. I can’t wait to share with you the finished product and her gorgeous store once everything is set up! So there will be much more about that later, so stay tuned :)

As for today, I am sharing with you two different things I have done this past week. Recently, I thought to myself it had been awhile since I have done any beds. Lo and behold, I found a gorgeous antique full-sized detailed bed for sale. I painted it a dusty blue-gray with a little pearl on the surface, and a little off white on the detail. This will be a lovely piece for someone, even a guest room!frenchbed 1 copy

I also found a little antique dresser I liked the shape of, and decided to do something creative with it. Though the piece is painted in pure white, it features vintage sewing patterns along the fronts of the drawers, making it adorably unique! And by vintage, I mean really VINTAGE as they came from my husband’s grandmother’s basement. That lady has saved everything over the years! Sweet of her to let me use some of what she has kept :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend ! Here’s to a busy summer!

About these ads

a little rustic farmhouse anyone?

So, let’s get real. I am pretty much knee-deep in diapers and up with a newborn most of the night. Also, there is that crazy toddler I have who is turning 2 later this week! So, I am busy listening for what he is up to in the other room when I’m not watching (a quiet toddler is always a bad sign) and trying to plan his party, meanwhile, take care of the baby. Basically, I said goodbye to my sanity….. I expect to get it back in around 18 years or so :)

With all of that going on, I did paint a couple of things. I am feeling pretty good now since having the baby almost a month ago. And let’s face it, winter lasted WAAAAAY too long, so I’m just happy to be outside.

So in this edition, today’s for sale is all about the dining room.

Sometimes, it’s nice to paint things a sweet, distressed cream shabby chic, and other times, I am in the mood for more rustic, raw looking pieces. This farmhouse dining table is great for that trendy rustic look. This thing is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Truly for the “chippy paint” lovers. It is a normal sized table that when extended with its two leaves, is over 9 feet! This had an ugly cherry top to begin with…. but I completely custom restored it, and now it has that “old world” style black  on top and very chippy steel-blue color painted on bottom. One of a kind, and sealed for protection.

Back to party planning…. and some custom work as well :)

Spring Blossoms

Happy Spring everyone! Okay so it hasn’t felt much like spring…. BUT, here in Nashville it is supposed to be gorgeous starting tomorrow. I’m seeing pretty much a weeks worth of weather in the 70′s and it’s about time :)

So, in celebration of spring, here is a little cherry blossom dresser. I LOVE cherry blossom trees. So gorgeous. They remind me of my trip to Savannah last spring, and if you didn’t read about that little trip, you can here http://asouthernstory.com/2012/05/09/georgia-on-my-mind/.

I took this little chest on chest dresser, and added some soft peachy pink blossoms with a soft gray. I already had this painted in an antique white, so adding the flowers was a small little project for me, since I am really still on maternity leave. I am however slowly starting this month to get back to painting. So if I have not gotten back to you about custom work, and you are interested, please contact me so we can set something up for sometime this month. So glad it is finally going to be nice out!

Be sure to check out the “currently for sale” page for more info on this dresser.

Everyone enjoy your weekend!

A quick update and even some for sale!

So, as promised I have posted a couple of smaller things leftover from in my workshop to the “currently for sale” page. And I ALMOST have taken my maternity leave seriously enough to not work ;) Mostly I have been getting things prepared for baby, but a couple of things may have also gotten painted a long the way…. :)

I actually had a request on Etsy to recreate one of my most popular dressers of all the ones I have ever done. The spring “bird” dresser. Though I had stopped working at this point, I just couldn’t help myself when I found an antique piece that was SO similar in shape and style. Plus it was one of my favorites too :) After completing this, the client told me they would need it shipped, and I really prefer not shipping furniture, so I am putting it up for sale locally for a couple of days first. So for any of you that may remember it from last spring, here is your chance to own it again! I will add it as well to the “currently for sale” page.

Otherwise, I will just be sitting (by that I mean doing a lot around the house that I shouldn’t be) around waiting for this baby to come! And then I will pick up the real work later in the spring.

Have a great week everyone!

A little break… and one more for sale!

Sorry to all for being so absent on my posts! This winter has been filled with a lot of custom work. When I did have pieces for sale, I would get them uploaded to the for sale page, and they would sell before I could post about them! Not complaining about that one! :)

In other news, I will be starting my maternity leave in the next week or so. I have had a quite a few emails lately on custom work, and if I have not responded, please forgive me. I have been trying to finish up, and get things squared away before putting up the paint for a while ;) I know some of you have pieces that you want done for your nurseries, etc that are time sensitive, but for the rest of you that may be able to hold off, I will mostly likely be starting back up late April/ early May (or whenever this sweet baby decides I can sleep again), and would love to assist you. I cannot WAIT for spring weather painting!! No more of these 40 degree weather days for me…. February is always that month that has me desperate for any sign of spring… like how randomly a flower will pop up on a nice day, and you think, it’s coming, it’s really coming soon! I’m sad to say that a couple of the nice days we had, brought a few of our “yearly spring ants” to my kitchen and THAT even had me excited!

Cabin fever and the “nesting” instinct are making me pretty restless around here, so I’m counting the days until the calendar says March! I’m ready for flowers, fresh air, walks, fruit that’s actually in season, later daylight, grilling, even spring cleaning. How about you?

For now, I have one dresser/buffet to post for sale. There may be a couple of leftover small items I have in my workshop that are done that I may post in the next week or so, but otherwise that’s all folks.

Here it is: (be sure to see the “currently for sale” page for more info)

Shabby Chic Christmas

So, each year I try to do one or two craft shows and bring crafts and smaller shabby chic stuff along with my usual shabby chic furniture. It’s my only time to do fun stuff like that, because mostly my time is filled with just doing the furniture. This year however, I had planned for quite awhile to do the Centennial Holiday Craft Show, but I decided that since I would be about six months pregnant, it would just be too much hassle getting furniture there. Instead I decided to have a little shabby chic Christmas show at my house. I also had my amazingly talented friend, Amy, set up a booth of her stuff.

We had a more intimate set up, complete with hot chocolate bar (despite the 70 degree weather), and ornament making workshop. So fun! So thankful to all who helped us put it together.

Here are some of the pics from our day!

French Beauties

So, I still have not worked on the little chifferobe I spoke of in the last post. I just haven’t figured out for sure what I want to do on it yet. AND…. I got caught up working on these gorgeous french provincial pieces.
I prefer to sell them as a set, since they are matching bedroom pieces. Could you imagine them in a bedroom with an amazing tufted headboard?! Be still my heart!

Painted in a soft Parisian blue-gray, then distressed in just the right places, they also had a tedious coat of glaze hand applied to bring out those gorgeous details, AND even some pearlescent silver glaze added to highlight those details with a pretty sheen. Also hand waxed for protection. These beauties took me awhile!
I think they came out nicely, and they are heavy, solid wood, antique pieces, so they will last someone a long time. Lots of storage in the triple dresser, and the chest is also a decent size. Check them out on the “currently for sale” page if you are interested in purchasing them.
