Georgia on my mind

This was our first trip to be away from the baby. It was just a quick weekend getaway, but we packed a lot in. Part of me wondered if we would end up driving all the way to Savannah, only to spend the whole time sleeping, since, well, we haven’t done much of that the past year, and then the rest of the time calling home to check on Fable. But, that baby of ours has drilled it into us to wake up at a certain time, so indeed we saw a lot of the city.

And it was gorgeous….

We spent the majority of the time walking around downtown. I must say one of my favorite parts involved EATING! This is the south y’all, we know our grub. So, we visited the queen herself, Miss Paula Deen. We were so worried we would have to wait in the infamous long line outside to get the reservation, but I was able to walk right up while my husband parked and get us in! Awesome. Jeremy got the buffet, which was mostly fried chicken and veggies. He got to pick a dessert…. he chose banana pudding. He is quite the hard-to-please banana pudding eater, but he approved…. I snuck a bite, and though I usually choose anything chocolate for a dessert, I must say it was wonderful. I ordered from the menu and got pot pie. I. about. died. I can imagine helpings of this stuff in heaven… minus the 900 fat grams in it. I don’t even care if there was a stick of butter in that stuff, it was worth it, and the flaky bread on top…. glorious. And it never hurts to have some sweet tea, with a mint leaf, and a doily place mat.

Here is the picture before it was devoured and I instantly became 10 pounds heavier:

My favorite after eating, was the shopping. If you have been following my blog, you may know my style. My favorite store was the Paris Market. Heaven.

We also made it to the beach at Tybee Island. And there was a wedding going on right next to us! I loved walking the pier also.

Here are some other highlights from the trip… our walk along River Street and more…

We had a great time. And I only called home twice :)

Stay tuned… the next post is furniture for sale, I promise!
