flea market recap

So last weekend (by last I mean Memorial Day weekend) I had a booth at the Nashville Fairgrounds Flea Market. SO much fun! I met some great people, and saw some AMAZING things…. some I bought, and some I just didn’t have time to go get while also manning my booth. If I do it again in the future, I think I might wait until fall, so that during the summer months I can go and shop it myself :)

I did decently, though it seemed like I sold almost all of my smaller items, and only some furniture. Part of it seemed that no one had come shopping planning on buying a large item. I think if I did it again, I will only bring a small amount of furniture, and fill my booth with painted chandeliers, chalkboards, frames and other painted smaller items.

Overall, a fun time, and great learning experience. One of the perks was being next to a booth with the SWEETEST lady ever! She had the most awesome rusty stuff that she had picked all herself at a place in Franklin. I did come home with some of her stuff, which I will post some pictures of these great finds in a post soon. I also intend on going picking with her in the very near future! We had a lot of laughs while at our booths for 3 days… what a blessing to have met her. Thank you for the fun Paige, I can’t wait to go picking with you!

Though I was there for 3 days, it was fairly busy, so I am sure there was a lot that I missed. I can’t wait to go back and shop! One of my friends from high school, Sarah, had some AWESOME stuff at her booth. She was outside in one of the sheds, and with being so busy, I never got a chance to see it in person, which I hate! Hopefully she does it again in the future, and I can visit it. Their store is called “Ladylike (reclaimist)” and you can find them on Facebook here…. I LOVE their stuff , especially the repurposed window frames.

Here are some of the pictures of my booth:

One of the most convenient things EVER was that I was able to take credit and debit cards as well. Right before the flea market (perfect timing!) I received my “PayPal Here” in the mail. I am part of a select group using this new system, and so far I love it. Because it is on my phone, I can now also accept credit cards if you are local and want to purchase furniture from me. Excited to use it!

Check out my “currently for sale” page for some of the stuff left that is still available. And stay tuned this week for some pictures of my awesome flea market scores…..

Flea Market Time!!!

I have done craft shows before, and though I loved them, they were A LOT of work. Like “stay up all night the night before trying to get everything together, and somehow manage to get there on time with your booth looking cute” amount of work, meaning you are looking…. well like “you need extra concealer under your eyes” exhausted. That being said, they have almost always been worth it for the people you meet, fun stuff you get to see, and stuff you sell, or new clients you make. My goal is to do some more of these in the future.

So I thought I would try out the Nashville Flea Market. I have never done it before, and it is not exactly a craft show, but I have been there shopping  before and it is AWESOME. I remember a few years ago going, and getting an amazing wrought iron chandelier there (which I ended up using at my wedding reception!).

I am SO excited! Who doesn’t love antiques, vintage finds, old furniture, shabby chic items, everything rusty under the sun….. I can just see the barn wood doors, reclaimed window panes, and rusty old gates now! Oh how will I ever manage to stay at my booth and not run off to rummage through things shopping?!

So,  if you don’t have your memorial day weekend all planned out, grab some friends and come by! It is free to get in,  but it is $5 to park and located at the Nashville Fairgrounds. It is a VERY large area to walk around and shop. It may be hot this weekend, but my booth will be in the Creative Arts building with lovely air conditioning :) Just look for booth 93….. the girl who might possibly look like she has that “extra concealer under her eyes” look from throwing this together last-minute ;)

Georgia on my mind

This was our first trip to be away from the baby. It was just a quick weekend getaway, but we packed a lot in. Part of me wondered if we would end up driving all the way to Savannah, only to spend the whole time sleeping, since, well, we haven’t done much of that the past year, and then the rest of the time calling home to check on Fable. But, that baby of ours has drilled it into us to wake up at a certain time, so indeed we saw a lot of the city.

And it was gorgeous….

We spent the majority of the time walking around downtown. I must say one of my favorite parts involved EATING! This is the south y’all, we know our grub. So, we visited the queen herself, Miss Paula Deen. We were so worried we would have to wait in the infamous long line outside to get the reservation, but I was able to walk right up while my husband parked and get us in! Awesome. Jeremy got the buffet, which was mostly fried chicken and veggies. He got to pick a dessert…. he chose banana pudding. He is quite the hard-to-please banana pudding eater, but he approved…. I snuck a bite, and though I usually choose anything chocolate for a dessert, I must say it was wonderful. I ordered from the menu and got pot pie. I. about. died. I can imagine helpings of this stuff in heaven… minus the 900 fat grams in it. I don’t even care if there was a stick of butter in that stuff, it was worth it, and the flaky bread on top…. glorious. And it never hurts to have some sweet tea, with a mint leaf, and a doily place mat.

Here is the picture before it was devoured and I instantly became 10 pounds heavier:

My favorite after eating, was the shopping. If you have been following my blog, you may know my style. My favorite store was the Paris Market. Heaven.

We also made it to the beach at Tybee Island. And there was a wedding going on right next to us! I loved walking the pier also.

Here are some other highlights from the trip… our walk along River Street and more…

We had a great time. And I only called home twice :)

Stay tuned… the next post is furniture for sale, I promise!

Trip to the Mall and a Springtime Dresser

Happy Friday all!
Sure, I work from home, and make my own hours, but who doesn’t love a friday? Yesterday, my husband and I took the baby to the grand re- opening of the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville. It has been closed for two years since the flood here in Nashville, and we couldn’t have been more excited to see it re-opening! If you don’t live in Nashville, and ever come to visit, make sure to add it to the list of things to visit, it is huge (though not as huge as the Opryland hotel, which is also amazing to walk around). The energy was so fun… you could really feel people’s excitement after two years of waiting.
Here is a quick picture (forgive my appearance, it was early, and we wanted to hurry up and get there and not miss out) that my husband took with his cell phone of us walking into the new “Forever 21″ store as they had just lifted the door:
This store is one of my favorite “girly” indulgences. They made it much bigger than it was before. It was HUGE. Just to give you a little idea, the size of the Forever 21 at the Mall of America in Minneapolis (definitely the biggest mall I have ever been to) is 32,000 sq. ft. Oh, I how I love that mall… no tax you know? I get to visit it every time I go with my husband to Minnesota to visit (he is from there). Anyway, getting back to my point…. .the new Forever 21 in the Opry Mills mall is 60,000 sq. ft.!!! What in the world!! I may or may not have lost my husband and son, while recklessly throwing caution to the wind to dash through isle after isle of beautiful new full racks.
That store took up a lot of my time, so we are going to have to make a trip back to see some of the others, like a new Disney store, and Lego store. I’m sure with the little boy in my life there will be many future visits there…. They had artists performing (it is Nashville) and there were some fun free promotions going on too! We got the cutest ever free teddy bear from Vanity Fair. And we got a free bag for frozen items from grabbing some frozen yogurt at Sweet CeCe’s. Mmmmm, just love that place. If you have not checked them out yet, you MUST this season:
I like the cake batter and raspberry flavors myself.
I will show you my freebies just for fun :)
With all the fun yesterday, I did happen to upload some new pretty furniture on the “Currently for Sale” page, so go check them out! One featuring a pretty little grey springtime bird on a very chippy white dresser.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
